FAQ

How many boxes of flooring do I need?

Boxes = floor area × (1 + waste % ÷ 100) ÷ square feet per box, rounded up to a whole box.

How do I measure a room for flooring?

Multiply length by width in feet for each rectangular room and add the rooms together. Split an L-shaped room into two rectangles.

How much extra flooring should I buy for waste?

That depends on the product, the layout, and the room shape, so this app does not pick a number for you. Type the allowance from the maker's instructions or your installer.

Does this work for laminate, vinyl plank, and hardwood?

Yes, for any flooring sold by the box with a square-feet-per-box figure on the label, including laminate, luxury vinyl plank, and engineered or solid wood.

What does this not include?

Price, underlayment, transitions, baseboard or trim, stairs, closets you leave out, and odd shapes beyond the rectangles you enter.
